2010 Southwest Master / slave Contest

2010 will mark the eighth annual Southwest Master / slave Contest. This event is in celebration of the Master / slave dynamic and a positive outreach effort to the community at large in an effort to educate and build upon healthy leather relationships.  The contest is for couples who self identify as Master / slave regardless of age, race, religion, gender or sexual orientation.  The title holders will be expected to honor the title by helping educate the leather community as a whole about the Master / slave lifestyle. It is hoped that the titleholders will be a valuable resource for the entire leather community and a shining example for the Master / slave community. The Southwest Master / slave Contest is one of the feeder contests to the International Master / slave Contest held at South Plains Leather Fest in Dallas, Texas.

International Master and slave for 2010: 

 Master Obsidian and slave namaste

Master Obsidian is the chapter founder and Director of MAsT Austin (Masters and slaves Together) and is also the Junior Regional Representative for the Southwest Region of MAsT International. He has also served on the Board of GWNN (The Group with No Name) in Austin Texas and is the current moderator of Black BEAT Texas. Additionally he and his devoted slave namaste serve as moderators for the national MAsT Open yahoo group as well as the regional MAsT Austin discussion list. A published author of articles covering the M/s and BDSM lifestyle and philosophy, his educational experience also includes workshop presentations, seminars and classes focusing on M/s relationship dynamics and techniques. A 2009 nominee for the Pantheon of Leather Man of the Year award, he has also been honored to mentor Dominants and Masters both new and seasoned. He has been in the lifestyle for over two decades and is the owner of slave namaste and the Master of House Obsidian in Texas.

slave namaste is honored and privileged to be the 24/7 slave of Master Obsidian. she has counseled, mentored and taught on Surrender, Internalization of slavery and submission. she possesses a great passion for aiding her fellow slaves in the lifestyle. Her writings on surrender and absolute slavery have been featured on web sites and in books. She is Founder and co-moderator of various lifestyle groups, including one geared specifically for slaves in TPE relationships. She is into Domestic Service, Protocol, Spirituality and The Art of Surrender.

South Plains Leatherfest-International Master/slave Weekend is pleased to announce Master Obsidian and slave namaste are the new 2010 International Master and slave.

Master Obsidian and slave namaste represented the Southwest Region, hosted by the Southwest Leather Conference. Northwest Master/slave Master DJ and slave september dragon, Northeast Master/slave Master Steven and slave tami, Southeast Master/slave Master Tom and slave linda, and Great Lakes Master/slave Master Kristina and slave Fink all were outstanding contestants and representatives of their regions.

Head judge for this year's contest was Master Z, International Master 2004. Other judges on the panel were Lady Lynette, Bootpig, slave tomo, Master Stephen, slave bonnie and slave Erich. Tallymasters were International Master/slave 2009 Daddy Ken and slaveboy tim. Master Larry and slave marsha rocked the house as emcees and kept the crowd entertained.

South Plains Leatherfest hosted nearly 500 leathermen and leatherwomen over the February 26-28 weekend at the Radisson Hotel Love Field in Dallas.

Requirements for Contestants

• Each contestant pair must have been in a self-identified Master / slave relationship with each other for at least one year prior to January 2010.  (Also, please note that the use of the words “Master” and "slave" is non-gender specific.)
• Each Contestant pair is required to provide a basket for the Travel Fund Basket Auction to be held at the contest.
• Each Contestant pair must be willing, should they win, to abide by the expectations set forth in the Expectations of Titleholders section below. 
• All contestants must be at least 21 years of age and reside in one of the following states: Arizona, Southern California, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, (excluding Reno), New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, or Utah. (Note: Southern California shall be considered from Fresno south.  All of Nevada except Reno is considered within the Southwest Region.  Reno is included in the newly formed Northwest region, as is the Northern California area).
• Applications submitted electronically must be signed at the event. 
• All applications are subject to acceptance by the contest producers.
• Application deadline is December 1, 2009.


Expectations of Titleholders

The Southwest Master / slave titleholder pair must apply to and run in the International Master / slave Contest held at South Plains LeatherFest in Dallas, Texas, February 26 - 28, 2010.  A special travel fund will be provided to the titleholder pair to help defray the cost of this particular participation.

The Southwest Master / slave titleholder pair must travel to and present on Master / slave relationships at a minimum of four BDSM or Leather events within the Southwest Region during their title year, including the International Master / slave Contest and next year's Southwest Leather Conference.  The titleholders will be strongly encouraged to attend more than the minimum number of events and to seek out every opportunity to speak on Master / slave relationships.

The Southwest Master / slave titleholder pair must be able and willing to speak on Master / slave relationships to all segments of the BDSM / Leather community.

The Southwest Master / slave titleholder pair is required to submit a quarterly report of their activities in support of the title.

The Southwest Master / slave titleholder pair may not accept fees for giving or receiving SM activities, whether sexual or non-sexual in nature.

Contest Categories

CATEGORY 1: THE INTERVIEW (150 points):  Each contestant pair will be interviewed by the judges.

CATEGORY 2: PRESENTATION (100 points):  Contestants will be required to conduct a mini-workshop on Saturday, during which they will present a brief (5-10 minute) presentation on any issue relating to Master / slave relationships.  Both the Master and slave contestants must speak during the presentation.

CATEGORY 3: SPEECH & IMAGE (100 points): Contestants will give a two minute introduction speech on a topic of their choice during either the Friday or Saturday night event ceremonies. Each contestant in a couple is required to speak (120 Seconds Each).

CATEGORY 4: ON-STAGE QUESTION (75 points):  Each person (Master and slave) will be asked a “pop” question on-stage during either the Friday or Saturday night event ceremonies. Contestants will have no prior knowledge of the questions asked.

CATEGORY 5: MASTER / SLAVE DYNAMIC (75 points):  Contestants will be observed by the judges throughout the weekend and judged on how they interact and present themselves as Master and slave to the public.

Scoring System

The Olympic scoring system will be used where the highest and lowest score for each category is thrown out and the remaining score is added together.

Contestants are required to be at the SWLC host hotel by Friday noon on the contest weekend.  All times TBD.

• Friday, Jan 22 – Meeting with Master Bob and slave jan, the SWM/s Contest Coordinators, and the Stage Manager
• Friday, Jan 22 – Category I – Contestant Interviews
• Friday, Jan 22, or Saturday, Jan 23 – Category III – Speech & Image (during evening ceremonies)
• Friday, Jan 22, or Saturday, Jan 23 – Category IV – On-Stage Question (during evening ceremonies)
• Saturday, Jan 23 – Category II – Presentations
• Saturday, Jan 23 – Winner Announced

Winners Package

The titleholders will be provided with vest patches that will include the title name and year and a medallion.

SWLC Producers guarantee a travel fund based on profit generated throughout the event.

A special travel fund will be provided to the titleholder pair to help defray the cost of participation in the International Master / slave Contest held in Dallas, TX, the weekend of February 27- March 1, 2009, at South Plains LeatherFest.

The titleholders may raise additional money to cover travel expenses through fundraising activities, and may also accept additional monetary support from groups, event sponsors or individuals to cover travel expenses.
